Cats have emotions all, at least mammals do. Emotions are biological reactions that happen in a part of the brain called the Limbic system. Mammals at least for sure have a limbic system. That is why they feel anger, love, guilt, jealousy, ect…. Whether he was smart enough to put it back I guess it depends on if he has done it before and knows is a no, no, which they can read facial expressions of people as good or disapproving. Emotions for us and animals are biological reactions to environment that happen in the Limbic system. What animals do not have is the ability to think (at least in any complex way) and a sense of Self (they are not aware of themselves).
